Property Appraiser Marty Kiar Martin “Marty” Kiar is a lifelong Broward County resident. Having been born and educated in Broward County, his roots run deep in this community. After completing high school, Marty earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University with his Juris Doctorate. His path to public service began when he was appointed to the Town of Davie School Advisory Board, Town of Davie Airport Advisory Board and the Broward County Housing and Finance Authority. Marty went on to serve as the Assistant Town Attorney and Assistant Municipal Prosecutor for the Town of Davie. In 2006, Marty was elected to serve in the Florida House of Representatives. He was re-elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2008 and in 2010. In 2012, Marty was elected to the Broward County Commission representing District 1. Marty served two years as a Commissioner, one year as Vice Mayor and then Mayor. In 2016, Marty was elected to be the Broward County Property Appraiser and took office as the Broward County Property Appraiser on January 3, 2017. Marty is married to his wife Kelly who is a proud University of Florida Gator. They have two daughters, Brianne and Camryn and three cats named Rocky, Maggie and Toby. |

South Florida Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program $350,000 - Secured $350,000 for this program which provides in home care to Holocaust survivors living in South Florida. LEGISLATION House Bill 879 – Sponsored and the legislature passed this bill, which helped our hard working nurses receive certifications in particular fields. Amendment to House Bill 653 – Passed this amendment which ensured that our School Start Date would not change so that our children would not be deprived of a summer vacation. House Bill 483 – Co-sponsored and the legislature passed this legislation which requires certain public lodging establishments and buildings to be equipped with carbon monoxide detectors and alarms. House Memorial 489 – Co-sponsored and the legislature passed this memorial to urge congress to bring the Herbert Hoover Dike into compliance with current levy protection safety standards. House resolution 597 – Co-sponsored and the legislature passed this resolution which encourages education for parents and children concerning the dangers of sexual solicitation and abuse.
